Aguero primed for Leicester

Second-place Arsenal will hope to get their title challenge back on track when they host Bournemouth on Monday, less than 48 hours after an embarrassing 4-0 defeat at Southampton.

With leaders Leicester City having lost 1-0 at Liverpool, victory would have sent Arsenal top, but they put in a bafflingly below-par display that resulted in their heaviest defeat of the campaign.

“These players have fantastic spirit. We want to respond from the disappointment,” said Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

“I trust my players to respond well on Monday. Bournemouth have played very well recently.”

Van Gaal on knife-edge as United tackle Chelsea

Manchester United’s besieged manager Louis van Gaal could see his troubled Old Trafford reign put out of its misery on Monday with fellow Dutchman Guus Hiddink cast in the role of executioner.

United’s 2-0 defeat at Stoke City on Saturday was their fourth loss in succession — the club’s worst run within a season since 1961 — and reduced Van Gaal to a dead man walking in the eyes of the British media.
The Dutchman admitted afterwards that he could not be certain of the United board’s support and raised the prospect that he could choose to leave Old Trafford of his own accord.
“I have said already in former press conferences that it is not always that the club has to fire or sack me. Sometimes I do it by myself,” he said.
“But the scrutiny is all right for me, I am used to that.”

The jihadists invaded Jiddari Polo, an area on the outskirts of the capital of northeastern Borno state, Maiduguri, at around 6:30 pm (1730 GMT), shooting guns and unleashing explosives.
“We had just finished evening prayer in the mosque when we began to hear the barrages of artillery fire and sound of gunfire,” said local Shehu Mala.
“All the residents in the area fled their homes to other parts of the city.”

The National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers on Monday says that petrol would soon be available in filling stations across the country. Mr Tokunbo Korodo, the South-West Chairman of the union, told newsmen in Lagos there had been improvement on loading of petroleum at the depots in Lagos.
He observed that Nigerians would appreciate the present regime if it could reduce the price of petroleum.

The NUPENG chairman said that the government meant well for all and sundry, in spite of the few greedy that worked to frustrate genuine intentions.

How we’ll create jobs through 365 festivals in Nigeria – Lai Mohammed

Lai-Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed says the ministry will leverage on the cultural industry of the nation to employ many people, especially the youth. He spoke during the inauguration of the “One Lagos Fiesta’’ at Agege Stadium, Lagos on Sunday night.

The United State of Nigeria; Plea of a Nigerian youth

For a cause that has thrived through the vicissitudes of fate; a cause that has withstood for decades, the compulsory test of time; a cause for which those whose lives have been claimed are proclaimed ‘martyrs’, then, it is suffice to say that the ideology behind such a cause is vividly a force with which to reckon. I write of no other than the ‘Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra’ (MASSOB) et al.

As evident by the obvious, Nigeria is still taking her first steps in the proverbial thousand-mile journey towards holistic national development; however, it is not out of place to deem rash any attempts to abandon the crawling child despite the glowing hope of its taking giant strides in proximal years. Irrespective of a slight or marked change in the motives behind this emancipation from the time of conception of this idea till now, the eventual outcome remains constant – a division of the Nigerian State! The reasons for the ‘Biafra’ agitation could be justifiable in all ramifications but the imminent scary consequences of this contention, if won, should be weighty enough to depress the brakes of the over-speeding vehicle of division. Despite our overt shortcomings as a nation, the International Community till date is compelled to reckon with us for many reasons, key amongst which is the potential power we wield when united as a nation. Hence, rather than dance to the appealing tune of ‘advocacy for freedom’ from the pipes of those who want us divided, let us be mindful that a hidden sentiment for a crack in our solid, green wall may underlie these seemingly innocent international and local opinions. Truth be embraced, Nigeria cannot be Nigeria if Nigeria is not one; the core essence of our strength as the giant of this continent will be consolidated by our definite defiance to divide!

MI Reveals his dating Phobias

Everybody has got their phobias. For some, it is fear of water and for others it may be fire or even the dark. The legendary Gaul tribe historically were renowned for their fearlessness but they had the mortal fear of the heavens falling down on them. For our top rap star, Mr Incredible Abaga, his fear has to do with the so-called light-skinned girls.

MI confessed to Potpourri in an interview that he lives in mortal fear of fair girls because he believes most of them are not natural. He said before he would take one for a wife he would need to see a picture of her as a vhild just to make sure she is naturally fair and not artificial. According to him, most girls have bleached their skins for so long that it almost looks natural.

Buhari made this statement during the South East Presidential campaign rally of his party at the Dan Anyiam stadium in Owerri on Monday, 23rd March 2015. The APC candidate apparently lamented that “it is sad that the value of the Naira has dropped to more than N230 to $1” and he therefore cautioned that “this does not speak well for the Nation’s economy”.
