41 police officers dead, several injured in bus accident

At least 41 police officers died Monday and several more were injured when their bus drove off a bridge in northern Argentina, plunging into a dry riverbed, officials said.

The new death toll from emergency officials in Salta province was more than double that originally given by a local mayor. Ten police officers were hospitalized, four of them in serious condition, emergency chief Francisco Marinaro told a local radio station.
