Pedro: Leaving Barca was tough for me, but am happier at Chelsea

Pedro says he is happier at Chelsea than he was at Barcelona despite the club’s poor start to the Premier League season.

Pedro moved to Chelsea in the summer after 11 years at Barcelona, the Spaniard leaving in

search of first-team football after spending much of last season on the Catalans’ bench.

He has tasted defeat on four of the eight occasions he has turned out for the Blues so far, but the 28-year-old is simply happy to be playing on a regular basis again.

“When someone gets to play, they gain rhythm, confidence, you’re happier, you try out more things,” Pedro said on the Spain national team’s website. “Leaving Barca was tough for me, but I’m happy with the change.”

Pedro is one of four Spain internationals in the Chelsea squad, along with Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa and Cesar Azpilicueta, something he says has helped him settle into English life much quicker than he might otherwise have expected.

“They’ve been a great support to me,” Pedro said. “The adaptation has been quicker given I already knew them from here and they’ve treated me very well in the dressing room, showing me how the club works.”
