Chris Rock to host the 2016 Oscars

Chris-Rock-61380350-year-old comedian Chris Rock has signed up to present the Academy Awards, which will take place in February next year.
After last year’s host, Neil Patrick Harris, received mixed reviews from critics and viewers alike, Chris was tipped to win the highly-coveted role, which he has
now won.
The American legendary funnyman should be a dab hand at presenting the show, having already fronted the ceremony in 2005.
The news was announced by producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin.
Explaining the choice, they said: “Chris Rock is truly the MVP of the entertainment industry.
“Comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, ‘documentarian’ – he’s done it all. He’s going to be a phenomenal Oscar host!”
Chris added: “I’m so glad to be hosting the Oscars. It’s great to be back.”
Later, Chris took to Twitter to celebrate.
The star posted a throwback picture of himself from a decade ago, holding the iconic Oscar gong.
“Look who’s back. #Oscars,” the star wrote.
The Oscars have been held since 1929, and the hosting spot has now become as coveted as the awards themselves.
Ellen DeGeneres, Seth McFarlane and Hugh Jackman have all presented the bash in recent years.
